“Say No to Drugs- 2022”

As per the guidelines stipulated by Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India and University Grants Commission, college of Nursing conducted an awareness programme on “say no to drugs” by all senior buddies to their junior buddies on 26/03/22. Mrs.Susan Mathew acting principal represented Tu mera Buddy programme on behalf of college of Nursing with Nodal officers i.e Dr.Kirandeep Kaur and Mrs.Navjot Kaur. Various  activities such a poster competition and self made slogan writing competition was organize on 29/03/2022 between 2pm-4pm to intensify the students knowledge regarding adverse effects of drugs.  All classes, students uplifted themselves to the best to take participation in different competitions conducted on the day. In poster competition Ms.Neetu gangwar from BSc (N) 4th Year took 1st place, Ms.Palpreet Kaur from BSc (N) 2nd Yeartook 2nd place and Ms.Jashanpreet Kaur from BSc (N) 4th Year took 3rd place. In slogan competition, Ms.Lovepreet Kaur took 1st place , Ms.Harmanpreet Kaur took 2nd place and Ms.Rajpreet took 3rd place. All students were from BSc (N) 2nd year. The students who got 1st , 2nd and 3rd positions were awarded with prizes. At the end, all senior buddies boost junior buddies for upcoming events.

Annual sports meet- 2022

REPORT OF ANNUAL SPORTS MEET- 2022

College of Nursing, Adesh University, Bathinda conducted Annual sports meet- 2022 from 7th- 9th March, 2022. Students participated in different indoor and outdoor sports activities including Athletic events, Volleyball, Cricket, Football, Basketball, and indoor activities like chess, carom, and table- tennis.

Distinguished guests, Principals and Sports Committee members of Constituent colleges of Adesh University were also present in the event. Sports Chairman, Adesh Institute of Dental Sciences and Research, graced the opening ceremony at Adesh University, Football ground.

The chief guest Respected Rt. Colonel S. Jagdev Singh also delivered a valuable speech. In the speech, Sir gave much importance to the need for sports activities.

Students participated with enthusiasm and courage and shown their talents in different activities. All the students as well as faculty members enjoyed the event. Prizes and certificates were given to winner students. Refreshment was also arranged for the faculty and students.

All sports events were conducted under the supervision of Sports committee representatives, Teaching faculty, and physical instructor, Mr. Balwinder Singh, Adesh University.

WORLD BREAST FEEDING WEEK

“WORLD BREAST FEEDING WEEK” – 1ST TO 7TH AUGUST, 2021

Theme – “Protect Breastfeeding: A Shared Responsibility”

ACTION TAKEN REPORT

This year World Breast feeding week was observed from 1st August to 7th August, 2021 with the theme “Protect Breastfeeding: A Shared Responsibility”. The program was conducted on 7th August, 2021 to spread the awareness message about importance of breast feeding. World Health Organization states breastfeeding as one of the most effective ways to ensure child health and survival.

The week is celebrated every year from 1st to 7th, August to encourage breastfeeding and improve the health of babies around the world. The day highlights the benefits that breastfeeding can bring to both the health and welfare of babies. The day also focuses on maternal health, good nutrition. Breastfeeding is a natural process and is not always easy. Support to the mothers is required both to get started and to sustain it.

Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing and Child Health Nursing organized the event with the help of students. Students from B.Sc (N) 3rd year, Post Basic B.Sc (N) 1st year participated in the various activities including health talks and demonstration of breast feeding techniques. Health Talk sessions were conducted in the Maternity ward, Gynae OPD, Paediatric Ward and Paediatric OPD.

All Faculty members of Obstetric and Gynecological nursing department and Child health Nursing department organized the event with lots of enthusiasm.

ELIMINATION OF SINGLE USE PLASTIC- 2021

To  reduce/eliminate  single use plastic in the campus an awareness programme was organized by Department of Community Health Nursing, College Of Nursing. on June 25, 2021 at 2.30 P.M.

As a part of the Programme Mr. Rohith Manhas, Student of Second Year M.Sc Nursing highlighted the hazards of Single use plastics which include Use and throw Plastic bags, Plastic drinking Bottles, Bottle caps, Food wrappers, plastic sachets, food wrappers, staraws. Stirrers, and Styrofoam Cups and plates. He emphasized the impact these non – biodegradable items which may take thousands of years to biodegrade may enter into food chain thus harming both animals and human beings.

Ms. Nazakat Ishaq of Third Year B.Sc Nursing highlighted the methods avoiding use of single use plastics and alternatives available.
The programme was attended by students, faculty members (Both Teaching and Non Teaching) and also housekeeping staff.  As a part of awareness programme a broacher was circulated among students and housekeeping  staff

CELEBRATION OF INDIA’S 75 YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE- AZADI KA AMRUT MAHOTSAV

On 16 March 2021, Department of Mental Health Nursing, (Dr. Jasdeep Kaur, Assistant Professor, Ms. Rajpreet Kaur, Senior Tutor and Ms. Karanjeet Kaur, Clinical Instructor), College of Nursing, Adesh University, celebrated India’s 75 Years of Independence- Azadi Ka Mahotsav  at 11:00 am to 12:00 MD in Seminar Hall.  In this regard, communications have been received from the Ministry of Education, Department of Higher Education and Ministry of Information and Broadcasting informing that the celebration of 75 Years of India’s Independence- ‘Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav’ would commence 75 weeks prior to the Independence Day 2022 and would extend upto Independence Day 2023.

 

Competition on Seminar presentation and Essay writing was organized. Students of B.Sc. (N) I Year, B.Sc. (N) II Year, G.N.M. II Year participated in the events.

Celebration of International Women’s Day 2021

” As per the guidelines stipulated by Government of Punjab, Deptt. Of Higher Education & Language (Education cell), College of Nursing, Adesh University, Bathinda carried out the event regarding “International Women’s Day2021” on 08/03/2021 between 2.30pm – 4pm, which was organized by the Child Health (Paediatric) Nursing department.

Accordingly, the students from B.Sc nursing -1st year, 2nd, 4th year and PBBSC. 1st & 2nd year were participated in various events like poster presentation, also agenda attached with this document.  Dr.Mini Bedi. Associate Professor, OBG Dept.  AIMSR, was invited as chief guest for the program and delivered a speech on women’s health during the occasion.

National Youth Parliament Competition - 2020

As per the guidelines stipulated by Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India and University Grants Commission, College of Nursing, Adesh University, Bathinda, conducted “National Youth Parliament Competition -2020” on 24th Feb. 2020, between 2pm – 4pm, which was organized by the Child Health (Paediatric) Nursing department. 

The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs has been organizing Youth Parliament competitions since 1966 to strengthen the roots of Parliamentary democracy, inculcate healthy habits of discipline, tolerance of the views of others and to enable the student community to know about the parliamentary system of Government functioning.

Accordingly, College of Nursing done registration on the portal of National Youth Parliament and conducted youth parliamentary sitting to generate awareness among the student community about the parliamentary system of Government functioning.  The students from B.Sc nursing 1st year and 4th year were participated in the parliamentary sitting on the topic “Nursing Education 2020”. Dr. R.G. Saini, Chairperson, CIBR dept. and Dr. Prabhjot Kaur, Associate Professor, CIBR, were invited as guests for the program.

Swachhta Pakhwada- 2020

Recognizing the vital role of the Educational Institutions in spreading the swachhta awareness and implementation across the country, HEIs directed all colleges to observe the Swachhta Pakhwada from January 16th to 31st  2020.

Under this directive, Department of Community Health Nursing, College of Nursing, Adesh University enthusiastically organized various competitions on speech, Poster making, slogan writing and other activities for the realization of the programme.

‘A clean India would be the best tribute India could pay to Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth anniversary in 2019,” said the honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The Swachhta Mission was launched on October 2, 2014 and aims to achieve the vision of clean India.

Keeping this mission in mind, during the week to celebrate Swachhta Pakhwada , all the students of the nursing college were engaged in different activities starting with students & staffs taking  pledge to maintain cleanliness and spread this message around.

Students of B.Sc nursing & GNM classes were engaged in speech, slogan writing and poster making competition based on Swachhta, Water conservation, forest conservation and waste recycling through best out of waste. Staffs and students weeded out old files, records and broken furniture. The students took the responsibility of sensitizing common people around their locality about the cleanliness and hygiene practices. On the 12th day, Nukkad Natak portraying the need to keep the surroundings clean was performed. The students conveyed that the idea of cleanliness should not only remain on paper and in photographs but should be made a reality.

“NATIONAL VOTERS DAY” CELEBRATION – 25TH JANUARY, 2020

National Voters Day celebrated every year on 25th January. The program was conducted with the theme of democracy and electoral participations to register the newly eligible young in the electoral roll and also to promote electoral participation.

 

            On this occasion, various events were organized in College of Nursing, Adesh University, Bathinda by Obstetrics and Gynecological Nursing Department. Students were encouraged to participate in Pledge taking, drawing competition and debate. Students from various programmes such as B.Sc (N) and GNM were participated and exhibited their talents.

The programme was started with the NVD pledge taken by all faculty members and students focused on free, fair and peaceful elections and to vote in every election fearlessly and without being influenced by considerations of religion, race, caste, community, language or any inducement.

Debate competition was organized on the topic “Democracy- whether needed or not”. The students from B.Sc (N) and GNM were participated.

It was followed by the drawing competition in which students have exhibited their talents in the form of drawing and represented different aspects of Democracy.

All Faculty members of Obstetrics and Gynecological nursing department and students participated in the event with lots of enthusiasm.

“Armed Forces Flag Day” 2019

As per the guidelines stipulated by Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India and University Grants Commission, College of Nursing, Adesh University, Bathinda, conducted “Armed Forces Flag Day” 2019 on 27TH Nov. 2019, organized by the Child Health (Paediatric) Nursing department.  

The Armed Forces Flag Day is observed every year on 7th December to commemorate the supreme sacrifices made by our vigilant Armed Forces Personnel for protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country and securing our lives against the threats of insurgency and terrorism as well as providing rescue and relief during natural calamities.

Accordingly, College of Nursing arranged competitions like songs, speech and poster to generate awareness among youth about the sacrifices made by Armed Forces and the significance of the day in our lives.

JAL ABHIYAN -2019

Launch of Jal Shakti Abhiyan for Water Conservation Union Minister for Jal Shakti, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, launched the Jal Shakti Abhiyan - a national campaign for water conservation and water security on 15th July, 2019.

The Jal Shakti Abhiyan is a collaborative effort of various Ministries of the Government of India and State Governments.

On 7th of November 2019, as part of the campaign for Jal Shakti Abhiyan, various activities were conducted at Gurudhwara, Bucho Kalan, Bathinda to create awareness among the general public regarding “Importance of water and various water conservation methods” wherein Basic B.Sc 2nd year and 4th year & Post Basic B.Sc nsg 2nd year students under the guidance of Mr.Ramakrishna (Head of The Department ) and the staff of Community Department of nursing college.

English and Hindi posters on water conservation were exhibited by the nursing students, by which the general public and students realised the importance of saving water. A role play was also organized to create awareness about “Importance of water, effects of water scarcity and   conservation of water through various methods at local level”. The main aim of the programme was to inculcate the importance of water conservation and efficient utilization of water. The same messages were posted on the college website and photographs were displayed in the college.

A large gathering of about 50 people, including village sarpanch Mr.Gurpreet, farmers, housewives and students took part in the programme were common citizens were made aware on some of the domestic ways of  to saving  water such as:

  • Use less water when you go for a bath
  • Turn off the water while brushing teeth teeth
  • Fix up all the Pipe leaks
  • Do not spoil potable water for flushing
  • Save rainwater in the reservoir in monsoon season
  • Plant more trees
  • Do not waste water for washing vehicles
  • Re-use grey water
  • Use surface water instead of groundwater
  • Make aware your family and friends about the water crisis

Public also participated actively by contributing their views on how water can be saved and the measures government has to take in dealing water scarcity.

Water scarcity is a reality that India is staring at now. There are thousands of villages across the length and breadth of the country facing severe water scarcity. The monsoon has failed them for the past years. In such a scenario, the new initiative from the government augurs well.

Rainwater harvesting, afforestation, watershed management, efficient irrigation, etc, are time-tested mechanisms for conserving water. The initiative with its broad mandate is planning to involve all stakeholders in water conservation. Hope the initiative will achieve success in its objective.

OBSERVANCE OF VIGILANCE AWARENESS WEEK -2019

This year central vigilance commission has decided to observe the vigilance awareness week from 28th October to 2nd November, 2019 with the theme “Integrity – A way of life”.  The program was conducted on 23rd October, 2019 to spread the awareness message to fight corruption and to ensure the integrity in public administration among all the faculties, staff and students.

He vigilance week is observed every year in view the spirirt of fighting the social view of corruption with the mission to launch a systematic campaign against corruption and educate the studnts and staff about the dangers of corruption and sentize them about its eveil consequences.

ANNUAL SPORTS MEET REPORT: 2018 -2019

College of Nursing Sports Committee, Adesh University, Bathinda organized annual sports meet 2018-19, sports committee chairman, committee members, class co-ordinators and student representatives decided to organize Sports Meet – 2018-19 from 16/03/2019 to 19/03/2019.

Sub committees were formed to execute the sports activities effectively on sports day. Student’s representatives were also involved in committee.

Col. Jagdev Singh (retd.), Registrar, has kindly consented to be the chief guest, Dr. Avtar Singh Bansal, Medical Superintendent, Adesh Hospital, has kindly consented to be the guest of honor,

Adesh University Constituent Colleges’ Principals and Chairman, Dr. Rajinder Singh Ahi, and Adesh University Sports committee members were graced the opening ceremony on 16/03/2019 at 10.30 am at Adesh University Main sports ground.

Col. Jagdev Singh (retd.), Registrar, declared the meet open at 11.00 AM by hoisting flag and releasing balloons, at main sports ground, Adesh University, Bathinda and gave a short speech highlighting the importance of sports in our life and encouraged students to engage in sports and outdoor games regularly.

During the meet, track events like 100 mtrs, relay race and other events like long jump, shot put, tug of war, kho-kho, cricket, football, Basketball, Throw ball, volleyball, fun games and indoor games like chess & Table Tennis were conducted.

Students were motivated to actively participate in the events with full game spirit, enthusiasm and to enjoy sports meet which give a diversion to them from their actual routines and classes. Students as expected participated enthusiastically and showcased their talents.

As per the schedule all sports events conducted successfully. Results of the events were announced on same day, prizes & certificates were distributed on the same day.

Refreshment was also arranged for faculty & students during the meet.

SWACHH BHARAT SUMMER INTERNSHIP – 2018

As per the guidelines stipulated by Ministry of Human Resource Development, in association with the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin), Ministry of Drinking water and sanitation, Government of India and University Grants Commision. College of Nursing, Adesh University, Bathinda launched ‘Swachh Bharat Summer Internship’ programme – 2018 on 27/04/2018 under the able guidance of Dr. (Lt Col) G P I Singh, Honorable vice Chancellor. Col. Jagdev Singh, Registrar. Dr. Amanish Singh, Dean Student Welfare and Prof. Shridhar. K.V., Principal, College of Nursing, Adesh University, Bathinda.

The Swachh Bharat Summer Internship aims to develop the skills and orientation of youth for sanitation related work, to bring youth across the country an opportunity to make a significant contribution to the swachhata revolution and to integrate youth in the community service in rural areas in the run up to the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

Accordingly 8 groups, 10 interns in each group of 2nd year Basic B.Sc. Nursing students, College of Nursing, Adesh University, Bathinda, showed interest and devoted 100 hours to swachhata and carried out activities for improving the sanitation and hygiene in the Bhuch Kalan Village, Bathinda.

ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT DURING SWACHH BHARAT SUMMER INTERNSHIP AT BHUCHO KALAN VILLAGE, BATHINDA.

In pursuance of the objectives of the Swachh Bharat Summer Internship activities, the following activities were organized by the interns who were enrolled and approved by the nodal officer.

‘Swachh Bharat Summer Internship’ was inaugurated by Sardaar Gurpreet Singh Shergill, Sarpanch., Mr. Gurpreet Singh, Medical Officer., Sardaar Harbhajan Singh Shergill, Sardaar Harbachan Singh, Mr. Gurdeep Singh, Village leaders.

The first activity carried out by 8 groups was Street and Drainage Cleaning, through awareness drives.

All groups were participated enthusiastically and cleaned all streets and drainages of the village, the village people also joined their hands and participated in the activity.

At the end, huge quantity of waste was collected from each group in the disposal bags; all the waste was accumulated in a common place and transported to a waste dumping yard, which is situated in the Bhucho Mandi.

In continuation of the Swachh Bharat Summer Internship, the second activity Household Waste Collection Drive was conducted by 6 groups. During the waste collection drive, groups visited houses, marked houses with a code SBSI HWC (Household Waste Collection) for identification purposes and collected solid waste and liquid waste separately and also sensitized family members regarding waste collection, segregation at source and proper disposal.

At the end, waste was collected from 509 houses and collected waste was transported to a waste dumping yard, which is situated in the Bhucho Mandi.

During the household Waste Collection Drive, it was observed that family members showed interest and realized the importance of waste collection, segregation at source and proper disposal.

The Information-Education-Communication activities conducted by the interns to increase the awareness of people about sanitation related issues and trigger a change in sanitation related behaviour were Door-to-door meetings regarding Sanitation, hygiene, toilet usage and hand wash, Village level Rally and Organized Swachhata related movie Screenings, Nukkad Natak, Street Play, Swachhata-related Song and Dance performances.

174 houses Door-to-door meetings regarding Sanitation, hygiene, toilet usage and hand wash was conducted under the leadership of Mr. Anayat Ullah and 166 houses Door-to-door meetings was conducted under the leadership of under the leadership of Ms. Sukhpreet kaur and together sensitized 680 village people.

Mr. Gurpreet Singh Sher Gill, Sarpanch, Bhucho Kalan Village, Mr. Harbhajan Singh Sher Gill, Mr. Harbachan Singh, village leaders were invited as guests for village level rally, Nukkad Natak, Street Play, Swachhata-related Song and Dance performances.

The Village level rally was conducted by spending 10 hours on it and sensitized almost 850 people.

Nukkad Natak, Street Play, Swachhata-related Song and Dance performances were conducted on the last day of the programme. Interns invited village people, students from schools a day before and on the day of performing activities, around 170 people from village and 30 school children were participated in the programme.

Ms. Navjot Kaur group performed Street Play and Swachhata-related Song, Ms. Sukhpreet Kaur group performed Nukkad Natak and Ms. Arshdeep Kaur group performed Dance.

All the performances undertaken by the interns target behaviour around open air defecation, hygiene practices, Waste Collection, solid and liquid waste management, Segregation of solid waste into non-biodegradable and biodegradable waste, Street Cleaning, Drain Cleaning and among other behaviors.

Refreshment was also arranged for people & school children during IEC activity.

During the internship, village people were sensitized regarding open air defecation, hygienic practices, Waste management, Street Cleaning, Drainage Cleaning and among other behaviors.

During the internship, it was observed that village people showed interest and realized the importance of waste management and sanitation.

The days were informative, interns were participated enthusiastically and had an opportunity to connect with people, develop their skill and get oriented about sanitation related work and make swachh bharat mission a jan andolan.

After completion of the activities by the groups, the online report submission was completed by 4th August by the interns through SBSI website approval.

All internship activities details were uploaded under the headings, No. of hours spent, No. of people participated, sensitized, brief description and methodology of the activities, challenges faced, field learning aspects and photographs and videos links were uploaded in youtube and Google drive.   

The report submitted by the interns was reviewed and approved by the nodal officer for the purpose of certification and rewards.

Under the able guidance of Prof. Shridhar. K.V., Principal, College of Nursing, Adesh University, Bathinda., constituted a selection committee for selecting the best interns teams for the awards at the college level.

Selection committee members for selecting the best interns for the awards at the college level were Mr.Sunil. M.B., nodal officer for Swachh Bharat Summer Internship Programme on behalf of College of Nursing, Mrs. Manpreet Kaur, Asssitant Professor., Mrs Sunitha Gracy, Assistant Professor., Ms. Jyothi Sharma, Sr. Tutor., College of Nursing, Adesh University, Bathinda.

As per the selection committee evaluation the following three teams have been selected at college level for the purpose of certification and rewards.

Armed Forces Flag Day 2018

The Armed Forces Flag Day is celebrated all over India every year on 7th of December in order to collect the funds from people all around the country for the wellbeing of the staff of the Indian Armed Forces. College of Nursing, Adesh University arranged a speech competition on the well being of Indian armed forces and prizes were distributed on the best speech. Students belong to the armed forces shared their experiences and the importance of the flag day.

CULTURAL FEST-2019

Cultural fest was started from 22/04/2019-27/04/2019. In the fest, we kept many events for comptetion such as Rangoli,Mehandi, Hair style, Nail art, Eye make-up, Elocution, Fruit & Vegetable carving, Photography, Poster presentation , Fancy dress, Foot loose, Singing, Solo dance, Folk song, Best out of waste and Dumb charads. Students voluntarily have taken part in the events and they all were very happy. We have given prizes to the winners also. We called external and internal judges for judgement and on the spot we have awarded them with prize.
